Audio and Video Resources



This page offers additional resources for the study of Gustavus Vassa. The W. E. B. Du Bois lecture series provides an overview of some of the challenges to authenticity and identity levelled against Vassa and his autobiography. The W. E. B. Du Bois Lecture Series

On April 16-18, 2019, Professor Paul E. Lovejoy presented the lecture series, “Equiano’s World - Beyond Slavery and Abolition,” at the Hutchins Center, Harvard University as part of the W. E. B. Du Bois Lecture Series. The W. E. B. Du Bois Lectures recognize persons of outstanding achievement who have contributed to the understanding of African and African American life, history, and culture. The lectures were divided into three parts that were made available via live stream.
