Most Worthy and Benevolent and Truly Favoured Sir, -
Thus with my inmost, & utmost Respect, Gratitude, & Thanks to you for all your kindnesses: Sir. Not having time before to Read the three Last good Books you was so kind to Give me till with in this week, I first have Read the just Limitation of Slavery, & the Law of Passive Obedience with Very Great Satisfaction: I Now have Read the Law of Retribution which I think is Quite Ravishing, for which I Do Request the pray hearing God to hear my prayers & Infinitely Reward you & all yours: for all your Labours, pains, and Love to the poor, and Very much Afflected Brethren of mine: may the Good Lord Reward you aboundently for these four pages in the Law of Retribution, which I thinks is Exceedingly Striking. Viz. all the 149th page and all of the 151st & page 320th, & Lastly the four Last Lines But two in page 331st. - if God spares me I shall Read the next week the Law of Liberty: & if god spares me to Visit you again I will be Glad to Beg of you: the Tract of the Law of Nature & principles of Action in man. Thanks to the Lord I have good Deal time to Read in this place I am now in. my present master is a mile [sic] man, But a fornicator. & how soon I may be Removed from his service I knows not as I am not much in favour with the fornicatress who has the Ruleing of him & the whole house.
